Florida GOP Voter Registration Starts Strong in 2012
The Republican Party of Florida still remembers the start of 2011 when Democrats in Florida had a voter registration advantage of more than 580,000. By the end of 2011 it was cut to a little less than 503,000.
But now, with numbers counted through January 2012, the Democrats' advantage is reduced to 483,869.
RPOF claims its accelerated voter registration program has produced the following results:
- Since Jan. 1, 17,073 Floridians have registered as Republicans, while in the same time frame 14,337 registered Democrat.
- In the 18 to 25 age group, 5,358 registered Republican and 4,390 registered Democrat. What's happened to the Obama youth movement?
- More women who are new registrants in this time frame registered Republican, 7,805 to 7,720.
In addition, two counties that started the year with a Democratic majority have been flipped to Republican:
- Flagler, 24,097 Republican to 24,030 Democrat.
- Gilchrist, 4,640 Republican to 4,638 Democrat.
"I am very proud of Florida's Republican team who are out there sharing our message of freedom and opportunity," said RPOF Chairman Lenny Curry. "Every day, as we move closer to the 2012 elections, Florida Republicans are working hard and preparing for victory. We will win."
