Florida GOP Endorsements Still Up for Grabs
John Avlon over at the Daily Beast offers a list of 10 politicians whose endorsements could shape the Republican presidential primary contest. With Florida looming large on the primary calendar on Jan. 31, its no surprise to see that former Gov. Jeb Bush and U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio are on the list.
The inclusion of Gov. Rick Scott, on the other hand, might raise a few eyebrows. It shouldnt. While Scotts still upside down in most polls, his numbers have gone up with Republican voters -- no mean accomplishment after a divisive primary against then-Attorney General Bill McCollum in 2010 (so divisive that McCollum sulked in his tent after losing and refused to endorse Scott).
While Avlon is probably right that the Republican nominee will avoid Scott in the general election, the governors backing will probably help in the Florida primary.
