Florida Dems Call for Trey Radel's Resignation

The Florida Democratic Party is calling for the resignation of U.S. Rep. Trey Radel, R-Fla., after it was discovered he had been arrested in the District of Columbia for cocaine possession at the end of October.

"Congressman Trey Radel's conduct is an embarrassment to his district and to the state of Florida," said FDP Executive Director Scott Arceneaux. "The issues facing Florida and our country are too serious.Congressman Radelshouldresign immediately and allow the voters of Florida's 19th Congressional District to elect a Representative that is able to effectivelyand honorablyserve them."

If convicted, Radelfaces a maximum of 180 days in jail, as well as a fine of up to $1,000.
