Florida Cultural Affairs to Showcase New Historic Antebellum Office

Secretary of State Ken Detzner and the Florida Department of States Division of Cultural Affairs are showing off their new historic digs Thursday night in Tallahassee.

A housewarming event is planned at the division's new office space at the Brokaw McDougall House from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The event is to feature live music by the Zach Bartholmew Trio and a traveling exhibition of Salvador Dalprints from the DalMuseum.

We are excited to welcome the public to our new offices in the Brokaw-McDougall House, Sandy Shaughnessy, director of the Division of Cultural Affairs, stated in a release. As Floridas state arts agency, we understand the importance of this historic structure and feel a responsibility to ensure its preservation and legacy.

The antebellum Brokaw-McDougall House, built around 1856, has been on the National Register of Historic Places since 1972.
