Florida Conservatives Help NBC Pull the Plug on Playboy Club Show

The conservative Florida Family Association (FFA) claimed a big win this week when NBC announced it was canceling the Playboy Club television show.

David Caton, the executive director of the FFA, sent out an email to supporters this week that focused on the role his organization played in leading to the shows demsie.

Florida Family Association supporters sent a total of 36,568 emails to Chrysler-Fiat and Chrysler dealership officials regarding Chrysler-Fiats role as the leading advertiser on the first episode of the Playboy Club, Caton wrote. Additionally, Ford Motor Co. informed Florida Family Association that Ford would not advertise on The Playboy Club and had advised Ford dealership groups to avoid the program as well. This communication from Ford was the result of Florida Family Association contacting Ford regarding a regional dealership buy on the show.

City Furniture and City Mattress also informed Florida Family Association that their advertisements would not appear on the program again. Numerous other companies advertisements did not appear again after receiving emails from the Florida Family Association office," added Caton. Numerous other groups including American Family Association, Morality In Media and American Decency Association also encouraged their supporters via email alerts to send emails to advertisers.
