Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Adam Putnam Mourns, Eulogizes Predecessor Doyle Conner

Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Adam Putnamhas issued a statement in memory of Commissioner of Agriculture Doyle Conner, whose body lies in state todayat Floridas Historic Capitol from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Conner served the department for three decades, between 1961 and 1991.

Doyle Conner was a powerful advocate for Floridas agriculture industry, a strong defense against pests and disease that threatened the industry and a tireless promoter of Florida-grown products," Putnam says in a press release. "Perhaps his greatest accomplishment, however, was the motivation and inspiration he offered to many Floridians, myself included.Florida suffered a great loss with the passing of Doyle Conner, but his legacy is sure to have a lasting impact for generations to come.

Conner's funeral service will take place at 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church of Tallahassee; he will be buried at Oakland Cemetery.
