Florida Alliance of Planned Parenthood Affiliates Backs Meek Over Crist

While Gov. Charlie Crist made a play for pro-choice support with his veto of a measure requiring women in Florida considering having an abortion to have an ultrasound in the first trimester, the Florida Alliance of Planned Parenthood Affiliates endorsed one of his rivals in the U.S. Senate race -- U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek who is battling Jeff Greene for the Democratic nomination.

"I have fought to protect a woman's right to choose for my entire life, and I'm the only candidate in this race who can say that. For me, this is about principles -- not politics," said Meek. "I am proud and honored to receive the endorsement of the Florida Alliance of Planned Parenthood Providers. As Florida's next U.S. senator, I will continue to put the rights and health of Floridians above politics.
