Flags at Half-Staff Friday for Apopka Soldier

Flags will be at half-staff Friday at the Capitol, county courthouse of Hillsborough and the city hall of Tampa for Pvt. First Class Jalfred D. Vaquerano.

Vaquerano, 20, a graduate of Forest Lake Academy in Apopka, died Dec. 13 from wounds sustained fighting in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

Vaquerano, who was assigned to D Company, 1st Battalion, 41st Infantry Regiment, 1st Armored Division in Fort Bliss, Texas, died at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Landstuhl, Germany.

Gov. Rick Scott on Thursday ordered state and national flags to be placed at half-staff.
