Flags to be Flown at Half-Staff for Arizona Victims

American flags will be flown at half-staff throughout Florida and the rest of the country after President Barack Obama gave the order in respect for the victims of Saturday's mass shooting in Arizona, which took the lives of six people, including U.S. District Court Judge John Roll, and injured 14 including U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords.

Here is the release from Gov. Rick Scott's office:

"As a mark of respect for the victims of the senseless acts of violence perpetrated on innocent Americans on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, in Tucson, Ariz., the president has ordered that the flag of the United States be flown at half-staff at the White House and upon all public buildings and grounds, military posts, and naval stations throughout the United States, and at all embassies, consular offices, and other United States facilities abroad, until sunset, Friday, Jan. 14, 2011.The governor requests that all state and local governments within the state of Florida join the president in acknowledging the tragic events of Jan. 8, 2011, by lowering their United States and state flags immediately, returning them to full-staff at sunset, Jan. 14, 2011."
