Flags Across Florida at Half-Staff to Mark 150th Anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's Death

With Wednesday marking the 150th anniversary of the death of President Abraham Lincoln, Gov. Rick Scott ordered flags to be flown at half-staff. President Barack Obama named Wednesday a Day of Remembrance for Lincoln.

Pursuant to the presidents proclamation, Wednesday, April 15, 2015, has been proclaimed as a Day of Remembrance for President Abraham Lincoln, Scott ordered on Wednesday. As such, all Floridians are encouraged to honor President Lincolns life and legacy with appropriate programs, ceremonies, and activities.

In honor of the remembrance of President Abraham Lincoln, I hereby direct the flags of the United States and the state of Florida to be flown at half-staff at all local, state, and federal buildings, installations, and grounds throughout the state of Florida, Scott added. The flags shall be lowered immediately and remain at half-staff until sunset today, Wednesday, April 15, 2015.

Lincoln was shot at Ford's Theater on April 14, 1865, and died the next day.
