Five State Legislators Endorse George LeMieux in Senate Race
Former U.S. Sen. George LeMieux, now running in the Republican primary to challenge Democrat incumbent U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, announced Wednesday that he has won the endorsements of state Sen. Evelyn Lynn, R-Ormond Beach, and four Republican state representatives -- Larry Ahern of Seminole, Jim Boyd of Bradenton, Steve Crisafulli of Merritt Island and Erik Fresen of Miami. The latest endorsements mean LeMieux has the backing of 31 of the almost 110 Republicans in the Florida Legislature.
From endorsements to straw poll victories, support for our campaign continues to grow, LeMieux said in a statement. The momentum we are gaining can be felt throughout Florida. I am incredibly grateful for the state legislators support and am looking forward to working with them to spread my message of fiscal conservatism across the state.
"George LeMieux has proven that he will represent Florida well in the U.S. Senate, said Lynn, the term-limited senator who represents parts of Clay, Marion, Putnam and Volusia counties. He possesses both the integrity and experience that are so badly needed in Washington, D.C., in order to get things done. While serving in the Senate, George listened to Floridians every step of the way and offered real, common-sense solutions to the difficult problems facing our state and nation. We need real leadership in Washington and thats why Im supporting George LeMieux for U.S. Senate."
