FHP Going All Out to Monitor Highways this Thanksgiving

With families hitting the roads for the Thanksgiving holiday, the police will be out in full force looking for speeders.

The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) announced on Tuesday that they will increase their usual efforts from Wednesday until Sunday, bringing in reserve and auxiliary troopers as well as administrative personnel to monitor the highways. Theyll be looking to crack down on aggressive driving.

The Florida Highway Patrol is committed to making Floridas highways safe, and we plan to do that by bolstering our forces to reduce the number and severity of crashes, said Colonel John Czernis, director of the FHP. During this hectic time, it is easy to lose your temper while driving, as evidenced by recent incidents of road rage. Our troopers are prepared to take immediate action to stop others from placing innocent lives at risk, whether the weapon is a gun or a vehicle.
