With a Federal Judge Striking Down Parts of Arizona Law, Scott Plakon Wants Bill McCollum's Legal Advice

Rep. Scott Plakon, R-Longwood, filed a request with Attorney General Bill McCollum on Tuesday to see what Floridas options were in passing stricter measures regarding illegal immigration now that a federal judge has struck down parts of Arizonas SB 1070 law.

As we move forward as policymakers, I believe its important that we receive guidance from Floridas highest-ranking legal officer, the attorney general, before addressing the conflicting issues surrounding SB 1070 to develop similar legislation in our state, said Plakon. This will certainly be helpful as we confront the catastrophic human, financial and constitutional impacts of illegal immigration in our state, due to the federal government remaining derelict in their responsibilities.
