EMILY's List, Nancy Pelosi & Co. Lavish Alex Sink With Fundraising Love
Not only is Alex Sink getting a Nancy Pelosi-led fancy Washington, D.C., fundraiser to bulk up her coffers, now she's got EMILY's List pitching its 3 million members to save her from Republican lobbyist-opponent David Jolly in her quest to win the late C.W. Bill Young's congressional seat.
"Make a direct contribution to ... Alex right now," urges the progressive organization that works to elect pro-choice women.
The EMILY's List message describes former gubernatorial candidate Sink's plight this way: "Alex Sink is running in a special election in Florida's 13th District, a highly competitive race where we have the opportunity to turn the seat from red to blue. The NRCC is already targeting her with misleading attacks, especially since she actually carried the district in her razor-close 2010 gubernatorial campaign and pundits agree that Republicans are in for a fight here. And since this is a special election, she needs your support urgently."
Roll Call flat-out claims Sink "is a safe bet to win her partys nomination on Jan. 14."
Meanwhile, as Sink prepares for her glitzy Dec. 4 funder at a Washington law firm -- where requested donations range from $250 to $5,000 -- Florida Democratic gubernatorial candidate Nan Rich and her team continue to work the phone on their own, with no help from the party.
