E-mail Threat to Rep. William Snyder Under Investigation
Scripps Treasure Coast Newspapers reports Tuesday that law enforcement agencies are investigating an threat e-mailed to state Rep. William Snyder, R-Stuart, author of an Arizona-like immigration bill that he has yet to file. The threat came to Snyder's Stuart legislative office an hour after the mass fatal shooting in Arizona that also left Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords with a critical head wound.
"The message implied that harm would come to the Stuart Republican or his family members if he didnt drop his immigration effort that mirrors a controversial bill approved last year in Arizona," the newspaper reports.
But Snyder later told Sunshine State News, "The e-mail said, 'Stop working on that bill if you value your and your family's safety.'"
It was unsigned.
Martin County Sheriff Robert Crowder has said his department is working on the case with a law enforcement agency in another state.
