Dwight Bullard Makes a Stop at Dream Defenders Protest

Sen. Dwight Bullard, D-Miami, made a stop at the Dream Defenders protest at the Florida Capitol, which has been going on for nearly three weeks. Last year, Bullard sponsored legislation to repeal Stand Your Ground in Florida.

Bullard took to his Twitter account on Friday, saying "Spending the day and night with the @Dreamdefenders at the Capitol #TakeOverFL#RevolutinarySlumberParty." On Saturday he thanked the Dream Defenders for their hospitality. "I had a blast absorbing your positive energy," read a tweet from Bullard.

Photos of a smiling Bullard appeared on Instagramspeaking with protesters.

"What Stand Your Ground did was fundamentally change the self-defense laws in Florida," said Bullard to reporters in Kissimmee. "Stand Your Ground defines what self-defense is."

The Dream Defenders have been at the Florida Capitol for weeks calling for a special legislative session to discuss the controversial Stand Your Ground laws. Gov. Rick Scott rejected the call for a special session in July, but the protesters vowed they would stay in the Capitol until a special session was called.
