Duncan Named to 1st Judicial Circuit Court
Gov. Rick Scott has appointment J. Scott Duncan, of Pensacola, to the 1st Judicial Circuit Court.
Throughout his legal career, Scott has had experience with complex cases that have required intensive research of legal principles and thoughtful application of the law, Scott stated in a release. His ability to quickly analyze issues and make informed decisions based on the rule of law will enable him to be an effective circuit judge.
According to a release from the governors office:
Duncan, 39, has practiced with Borowski and Duncan PA since 2002. Previously, he was an assistant state attorney with the 1st Judicial Circuit from 1997 to 2002, where he coordinated the Escambia County Drug Court Program from 2000 to 2002. He received his bachelors and law degrees from Florida State University.
Duncan will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Nikolas P. Geeker.
