Dorothy Hukill to Stay as Chairwoman of House Economic Affairs

Rep. Dorothy Hukill, R-Port Orange, announced on Friday that she would continue to serve as the chairwoman of the House Economic Affairs Committee and will stay on the Appropriations Committee and as co-chairwoman of the subcommittee handling redistricting of the state Senate -- which she is running for in 2012.

It is an honor to be chosen as chair of this important committee which will continue to address issues that are vital to Floridians, including jobs, economic development, transportation, and establishing a business-friendly environment for private-sector job creation and retention, while ensuring a balance between consumer protections and business regulations, Hukill said in a statement released on Friday. As I enter my last year serving in the Florida House, I look forward to working with my fellow members as we tackle the issues crucial to our states future.

Hukill is a candidate for the state Senate seat currently held by Sen. Evelyn Lynn, R-Daytona Beach.
