Donald Trump to Roger Stone: You're Fired!

Political consultant and firebrand Roger Stone has parted ways with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's campaign, according to a series of tweets as well as an interview with Trump from the Washington Post.

Stone, who was working as an adviser to the Trump campaign, says he quit Saturday.

Trump's take is different -- he says he fired Stone.

The big-time businessman and source of a substantial amount of political entertainment has made headlines for controversy this week. Recent antics following Thursday's GOP presidential debate included attacks on FoxNews moderator Megyn Kelly.

Trump's words seem to have prompted those involved in the campaign to quickly jump ship, which could be bad news for Trump moving forward.

News broke on Twitter Saturday afternoon.

"Trump is imploding," Stone told SSN.

"I was proud to have played a role in the launch of your presidential campaign," read Stone's email. "Your message of ‘Make America Great Again’ harkened back to the Reagan era. Restoring national pride and bringing jobs back to America - your initial and still underlying message - is a solid conservative message. In fact, it catapulted you instantly into a commanding lead in the race."

The praise could only last so long before Stone admitted why he was abandoning Trumpworld.

Stone wrote:

“Unfortunately, the current controversies involving personalities and provocative media fights have reached such a high volume that it has distracted attention from your platform and overwhelmed your core message. With this current direction of the candidacy, I no longer can remain involved in your campaign.”

Friends close to Stone say he came to them and told them he was leaving the campaign.

"There's no evidence that trump fired him," said GOP consultant Matt Mackowiak. "Trump can't produce that email bc that email doesn't exist.

Mackowiak said Stone had been having issues with Trump in recent weeks which reached a head after Thursday's debate.

"Roger has been frustrated," he explained. "Trump had been succeeding. Over the past few weeks he's gotten away from this message...I think he felt like the Megyn Kelly episode took it to a different level."

Trump's disparaging remarks put Stone between a rock and a hard place since he has known Trump for many years.

"This is a tough call for roger because he's worked for Trump for a long time," he continued. "It's sad Trump cares only about perception to lie about firing someone."

As for the state of the Trump campaign, Mackowiak says it's headed downhill fast.

"I think it's falling apart," he told SSN.
