Do Government Workers Have It Easier? Probably, They Admit
As hard as it is to believe in a climate that has Uncle Sam advertising for $115,000-a-year Facebook friendly employees, nearly three-quarters of American adults believe private-sector workers put in more sweat.
A survey released Thursday by Rasmussen Reports says 70 percent of adults feel those in the private sector work harder than government employees. A mere 7 percent believe government employees are working harder leaving one to wonder, did they answer the phone, Hello, White House?
Making the argument stronger, 44 percent of government workers admit they believe private-sector employees work harder than they do, while 39 percent are just not sure. Conversely, 80 percent of private-industry employees surveyed say they work harder.
When it comes to earning your keep, 56 percent of those surveyed believe the average public-sector worker earns more annually than the private-sector conterpart.
The survey of 1,000 adults was conducted on March 25-26 with a margin of error of +/- 3 percentage points.
