Dick Armey and FreedomWorks Back Dennis Ross for Congress
FreedomWorks PAC, a national conservative political action committee headed up by former U.S. House Majority Leader Dick Armey, backed former Rep. Dennis Ross on Tuesday for the congressional seat being vacated by U.S. Rep. Adam Putnam.
Ive always said, if you make a deal with the devil, you are the junior partner, said Armey. There are too many junior partners in Washington right now. Dennis Ross is a leader that I trust will think independently and act in accordance with his principles always -- not just when it is politically convenient.
The FreedomWorks creed is 'lower taxes, less government, more freedom.' That vision sums up my goals should I be honored to serve, said Ross. I am deeply grateful and honored to have the support of such a principled and dedicated patriot as Leader Armey. I will also strive to adhere to the principles of the free market, lower taxes, less government, and personal responsibility, even if it means voting against my party or my leadership.
Ross took a swing at Polk County Commissioner Randy Wilkinson who is running for the congressional seat as the TEA Party candidate.
To have the endorsement of the real Tea Party means the world to our campaign as well, said Ross. While some in Florida may try to sabotage the conservative movement or attempt to split the vote for selfish or political gain, those who believe that freedom and country and principle come first, have joined our campaign and will continue to do so through Election Day and beyond.
This endorsement, at the beginning of early voting in Florida, will energize our base and help unify conservatives, added Ross. This district believes in the same principles that FreedomWorks and I believe in, and with their support, there is nothing we can't accomplish together.
