Gov. Ron DeSantis on Tuesday announced the appointment of Darryl Taylor as superintendent of the Calhoun County School District.

“Superintendent Taylor is an outstanding choice for Calhoun County,” said Sen. Bill Montford. “He has had a long and distinguished career in the district and will continue to provide crucial leadership and committed service to the students. The entire community will be well served by Superintendent Taylor.”

“Calhoun County’s students will be fortunate to have Darryl Taylor as superintendent of schools and the entire community is sure to benefit from Governor DeSantis’ selection of such an excellent leader,” said Florida Department of Education Commissioner Richard Corcoran said in a written statement.

Taylor, of Blountstown, is the current principal at Carr Elementary and Middle School in Clarksville, Florida as well as the interim assistant superintendent of Calhoun County Schools. Prior to his current roles, Mr. Taylor worked in the public school system for over 25 years as a teacher and guidance counselor. He earned his master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Florida State University. He is appointed to the position vacated by Ralph Yoder.
