Dems Jab Rick Scott on Health-Care Fraud
The Florida Democratic Party is using a meeting in Miami on Friday about health-care fraud to take aim at Rick Scott, the front-runner for the Republican gubernatorial nomination.
"It's hard to argue with success, so Rick Scott should be the No. 1 expert witness at this health-care fraud summit," said Eric Jotkoff, a spokesman for the Democrats, referring to Scotts tenure at HCA-Columbia. "Since he oversaw the largest Medicare fraud in American history, it's ironic that Rick Scott now wants to govern the state that has the most prevalent health-care fraud issue in the country.
"The fact that the first regional summit is taking place in Miami only emphasizes how severe a problem Medicare fraud is in Florida," said Jotkoff. "Floridians need to trust that their next governor will work to crack down on health-care fraud -- how could they ever trust Rick Scott to do that given his disgraceful record?"
