Democrats Use Mike Fasano's Name in Mailer
After Mike Fasano congratulated Bill Gunter and Amanda Murphy on their victories in the primary race for his old seat in House District 36, he asked both parties to keep his name out of their mailers and advertisements.
I would ask them to put the people of Pasco first and not the special interest of Tallahassee and the leadership of their respective party, said Fasano on his Facebook page the night of the primary. I would also ask they run on their own merits and not use my name in their mailers and/or TV commercials.
Yet that hasn't stopped the Florida Democratic Party from mentioning Fasano in their latest mailer, reported SaintPetersblog Thursday.
Our former state senator, Mike Fasano, refuses to support fellow Republican Bill Gunter. Why? Because he'll just be another vote for Rick Scott's extreme agenda. reads the mailer.
The FDP isn't wrong about that. Fasano has spoken out several times about his lack of support for Gunter -- but Fasano wasn't too happy when Citizens for Fairness, a Republican-aligned electioneering communications organization, used his name in their mailer.
To any voter who may have received or read this flyer, Fasano said, I want you to know that it was sent to you by an organization that is funded by special interest dollars from Tallahassee. This group does not have the interests of Pasco County at heart. The allegations it puts in the flyer using my name are untrue and should be discounted by anyone who reads them.
Gunter and Murphy will face off on Oct. 15 to see who will be the next representative for HD 36, which covers Pasco County.
