Democrats Make Conventional Appeal for Corporate/Lobby Loot
While some of Florida's provincial media obsess over seating rules at the Republican Convention in Tampa, the Democrats are reversing course and kowtowing to big-money interests in Charlotte.
After initially barring corporations and lobbyists from contributing money to this summer's DNC convention, organizers have found ways to skirt the rules and give those groups a presence.
"They have quietly explained to lobbyists that while they can't make contributions, they can help raise money from their clients -- by soliciting personal checks from executives or in-kind contributions from corporations," the Los Angeles Times reports.
"That suggests the Democrats can't raise the $37 million for the political extravaganza without at least some help from moneyed interests," the Times said.
