Democrats Blast Republican Insiders and Outsiders

The Florida Democratic Party fired away at the Republicans on Thursday afternoon.

Going through the documents on the criminal case against former Republican Party of Florida Chairman Jim Greer, Democratic spokesman Eric Jotkoff blasted the GOP leadership in Tallahassee.

"While Floridians once again see why there needs to be a full and independent investigation into the massive corruption at the Republican Party of Florida, the Republican politicians that control Tallahassee are pulling out all the stops to block an honest investigation, said Jotkoff. Because it is increasingly clear that the Republican politicians currently controlling Tallahassee and this investigation are whitewashing over clear involvement by Bill McCollum, Dean Cannon, Mike Haridopolos and John Thrasher, the only way Floridians will get justice is to throw the corrupt Republicans out this fall."

Jotkoff is also going after Republican gubernatorial candidate Rick Scott, using the 44th anniversary of Medicare to remind Florida voters that Scott presided over Columbia/HCA when that company was being investigated for Medicare fraud.

"We wouldn't be surprised if Rick Scott was celebrating what is clearly an important milestone in his career -- the 44th anniversary of Medicare," said Jotkoff, in a statement sent out later in the day. "Without this very important program, which his company took advantage of, Rick Scott may have never been forced to resign and given millions of dollars from Columbia/HCA for overseeing the largest Medicare fraud in American History."
