Democrat Urges Rick Scott to Ignore 'Washed-Up' Comedian
A day after former "Saturday Night Live" comedian-turned-activist Victoria Jackson joined conservative opponents of Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnams energy bill, House Democratic ranking member Jeff Clemens, D-Lake Worth, urged Gov. Rick Scott to sign the bill, HB 7117.
I am 100-percent positive that Governor Scott will look to someone a lot more qualified than a washed-up comedian for advice on Floridas energy future, Clemens stated in a release.
House Bill 7117 is a small but worthy step toward establishing energy independence for Florida. And despite yesterdays attack by a few tea party followers, I expect the governor will recognize that HB 7117 allows the free market to determine which sectors of alternative-energy products will succeed and will allow the state to provide credits based on investments by the business community.
On Tuesday, Jackson, Americans for Prosperity Florida's Director Slade OBrien, James Taylor, senior fellow for environment policy at The Heartland Institute, and regional tea party members repeated earlier arguments that HB 7117 will result in higher energy bills for Sunshine State consumers.
