Delaware Gov. Jack Markell to Keynote Dem Jefferson-Jackson Dinner

The Florida Democratic Party will be holding its annual Jefferson-Jackson Dinner on July 17th in Hollywood and a big-time Democrat from Delaware will be giving the keynote address.

No, not Vice President Joe Biden.

Gov. Jack Markell of Delaware, who is the chairman of the Democratic Governors Association, will be speaking at the dinner, and both he and the party are using the event to push state CFO Alex Sinks gubernatorial ambitions. Sink is a favorite in the Democratic primary over Brian Moore.

"This fall Floridians are going to elect new leaders to end business-as-usual in the Sunshine State and get Florida back on track," said Markell. "I am honored to join Florida's next governor, Alex Sink, and the Florida Democratic Party at their 2010 Jefferson-Jackson Dinner."

"We are thrilled that DGA Chairman and Governor Jack Markell will be joining us at our 2010 Jefferson-Jackson Dinner, said Karen Thurman, who is the party chairwoman. As Delaware's treasurer, Governor Markell cut wasteful spending and worked to streamline his state's government. Now, as governor he continues using his business experience to fight for what is right for his state. Governor Markell's leadership shows why it is vital to elect strong Democratic leaders like Alex Sink in Florida to build a stronger future for our state."
