Debbie Wasserman Schultz Targeted by Allied Progress in New TV Ad
Already under fire from the left for limiting the number of debates between the Democratic presidential hopefuls, U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., the chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), is now targeted by a new TV commercial.
Allied Progress unveiled a new TV ad on Thursday, hitting Wasserman Schultz for opposing President Barack Obama on reforming payday lenders. The as is running across the Sunshine State. The group is also running an online petition at DebtTrapDebbie.com.
"The difference between Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s relationship with payday lenders and the average borrower’s relationship with payday lenders could not be more stark," said Karl Frisch, the executive director of Allied Progress. "Rep. Wasserman Schultz is benefitting greatly while borrowers are left holding the bag. It's time for her to quit trying to sabotage President Obama’s hard work to hold payday lenders accountable and instead join him in standing up for hardworking Florida families."
The group slammed Wasserman Schulz for reeling in more than $65,000 from payday lenders over the years and insisted she was hindering Obama’s efforts for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) to crack down on pay day loans.
