Dear Me, Alan Grayson on the RIGHT of Patrick Murphy?
So, the Patrick Murphy team is now trying to do what? Portray Alan Grayson as a right-winger, it looks like.
What planet do they live on?
Murphy's latest pitch to his Democratic donor list says this: "Patrick Murphy is the only true choice for Florida. He has a proven record of standing up for Democratic values like protecting Social Security, fighting for women's equality, and promoting LGBT rights."
As opposed to leftiest-of-the-leftists Grayson? So, the Murphy folks are trying to sell an Alan Grayson who has been in Washington all this time, sipping tea with the Freedom Caucus?
The Murphy pitch continues -- "Make no mistake: It won't be easy. There will be plenty of deep-pocketed Tea Party Republicans in this race intent on gutting Medicare, slashing Social Security, and leaving hard-working folks out in the cold. Our opponent is backed by these same right-wing groups, including the ultra-conservative Club for Growth. Patrick is the only Democrat who can turn Florida blue. Period."
"The only Democrat who can turn Florida blue?" Think again. Moderate Murphy -- Mod Murph -- flourishes in a largely conservative Treasure Coast district because he's 1) been careful to stick to championing local causes, 2) not do anything too crazy-left to incite the Republican Party there and 3) hide his lefty tendencies if he's got any.
Yes, absolutely, the Republicans would love to run against Alan Grayson, but not because he resembles even remotely anything or anybody on the right wing of American politics or culture.
