Deadline Extended to Find Palm Beach County Interim State Attorney

Gov. Rick Scott has extended the deadline for applicants to replace Michael F. McAuliffe, who is resigning as state attorney for the 15th Circuit, which covers Palm Beach County.

Scott has added a week to the application deadline, giving candidates until 5 p.m. Feb. 22 to seek the final 10 months remaining on McAuliffes term.

An application for the position is on the governors website at http://www.flgov.com/appointments/, a release from the governors office stated. Interested applicants should complete the application form and forward it to the executive office of the governor in accordance with the instructions provided on the website.

McAuliffe, a Democrat, has accepted a job with private energy company Oxbow Carbon. His final day in office is March 16.
