Deadline Approaching for Race to the Top Volunteers

The Department of Education is encouraging Floridians of all backgrounds to apply for a volunteer position for the state's Race to the Top program.

Eight committees across the state will be responsible for organizing and executing the states work as outlined in the federal Race to the Top grant application.

Through Race to the Top, Florida will get $700 million. Half of that award will go directly to to participating school districts and 50 percent will benefit all districts statewide. The volunteers being sought will use their expertise to assist with statewide projects.
