DCF Posts List of Welfare Drug-Test Labs; Solantic Clinics Sold

Applicants seeking Temporary Assistance for Needy Families in Florida are now required to take drug tests, and the state Department of Children and Families, which administers the TANF program, has posted a list of approved labs on its website.

On a semi-related note, the sale of Gov. Rick Scott's Solantic urgent-care clinics, which perform drug tests, was completed this week.

The News Service of Florida reported that the chain, founded by Scott, was purchased by the private equity firm Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe, which had formerly been a minority partner in the business.

Scott held a $62 million stake in the Jacksonville-based company that operates 32 walk-in clinics around the state.
