David Rivera Takes Aim at Obama in S. Florida Congressional Race
With Joe Garcia --a former member of the Obama administration who is now running as a Democrat for the U.S. House seat that Mario Diaz-Balart is vacating --defending the White Houses economic policies, the team of Rep. David Rivera, R-Miami, went on the attack.
When Joe Garcia focuses on the issues he shows his true colors, said Leslie Veiga, a spokeswoman for Rivera. He will be a reliable rubber-stamp for the big government, big spending policies that congressional Democrats and the Obama administration are pushing. He will not stand for the people of South Florida. He will stand for the policies that have left Washington broken.
Rivera going after the White House is not particularly interesting, since most Republicans are doing the same. But this is a district that is trending Democratic and only 50 percent of it backed John McCain in 2008. If Rivera makes this election about the White House, and he does better than McCain or Diaz-Balarts weaker-than-expected showing against Garcia in 2008, it could be an early bellwether for Obamas chances in the Sunshine State come 2012.
