David Rivera Praises McCollum's Lawsuit Against Obamacare

While he may be involved in one of the closer congressional races in Florida, Rep. David Rivera, R-Miami, offered heavy praise for Attorney General Bill McCollums lawsuit against new federal health-care laws backed by President Barack Obama.

I applaud Attorney General Bill McCollum for taking on the federal health-care reform challenge and moving forward with beginning the trial today in federal court here in Florida, said Rivera, who is running for the seat being vacated by U.S. Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart. It is imperative that we fight Obamacare it is an assault on our Constitution and threatens the health of the children and families of this great state and nation. It represents a $1 billion unfunded mandate that Florida cant afford, especially in times of budget deficits.

Floridians want health care solutions that will increase the access to quality care, but this unconstitutional measure that leaves Floridas families footing the bill is not the way to get there, added Rivera. I thank Attorney General McCollum for taking on this fight, and I stand by him today as this issue is brought before federal court.

Rivera faces Democrat Joe Garica in November.
