David Rivera Opposes Obama's Proposed Budget

Florida Republican U.S. Rep. David Rivera said on Monday that he was opposed to President Barack Obamas proposed $3.7 trillion budget set for FY 2012.

Today the president released a $3.7 trillion budget proposal that goes against what the American people have been calling for, and is completely out of touch with the reality that American families deal with in their homes every day, said Rivera. While the median income for American families has fallen by more than 4 percent in recent years, the federal budget has ballooned by 36 percent, leading to the growing $14 trillion national debt. That spending pace is unimaginable for American families, and it is unsustainable for the federal government.

We cannot continue to spend money we dont have. Uncontrollable spending has led to uncertainty for businesses as they hesitate to expand and create jobs due to the threat of higher taxes and costly regulations, added Rivera. In the House we are doing what we can to cut federal spending now, and looking out for the future of our country. This week we will be discussing deep cuts to federal spending as the next responsible step to ensure that our nation continues to be a beacon of freedom and prosperity for the American people, and for the rest of the world now and for future generations.
