David Jolly Leads the Charge to Keep Guantanamo Bay Open

With the Obama administration trying to close prison facilities at Guantanamo Bay which hold terrorists, U.S. Rep. David Jolly, R-Fla., is pushing back.

Jolly, who is running for the U.S. Senate in 2016, urged the Obama administration to keep the facilities open on Thursday.

“The closing of Gitmo would only embolden the enemies of freedom who wish to do us harm,” Jolly said.  “At a time when terrorism continues to spread throughout the world, we must remain resolved to defeat it.”

Jolly has been active on the issue, unveiling a bill earlier this year ensuring the Navy station at Guantanamo Bay remains under American control even as normalization with Cuba continues.  Jolly also successfully amendment the Military Constructions and Veterans Affairs Appropriations bill to ensure federal money is not used to close the base.
