Dave Weldon Backs Carol Platt to Challenge Alan Grayson

Former U.S. Rep. Dave Weldon, R-Fla., endorsed Carol Platt in the Republican primary to challenge U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson, D-Fla.

"I have known Carol Platt and her family for 20 years and I am pleased to endorse her candidacy for Congress, Weldon said. Her track record of accomplishment and her dedication to conservative principles are what we need in Washington, D.C.

I am confident not only in her ability to win in November but more important in her ability go to Congress and fight for the values that made this nation great, Weldon added.

After serving 14 years in Congress before retiring in 2008, Weldon offered a late challenge to Connie Mack in the 2012 Republican primary to challenge U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla., but he placed a distant second. Platt has worked for the Osceola County Realtor Association and has won the backing of former Gov. Jeb Bush.
