Daniel Diaz Leyva Outdistances Jose Javier Rodriguez in the Money Chase
Republican challenger Daniel Diaz Leyva has only been in the race a month but he already has the fundraising edge on Rep. Jose Javier Rodriguez, D-Miami.
Since entering the race at the end of August, Leyva raised $65,530 in cash and spent less than $710. He also relied on more than $3,100 through in-kind donations. Rodriguez has not been able to match Leyvas strong start, raising more than $10,400 in the third quarter and spending less than $500. Since filing for re-election in January, Rodriguez has brought in around $41,40 and spent less than $770.
To have so many friends and community leaders invest early in my campaign is truly an honor, Leyva said in a statement on Monday. They recognize that we are at a critical juncture in our state and our nation. Voters are responding to our message of fresh thinking, real leadership, and pragmatic solutions in addressing our issues. Today's announcement is just another indication of the resonance of these values. I am deeply grateful for the faith placed in me by so many and look forward to communicating this vision to the voters of District 112.
