Dan Webster Takes 2008 Salary to Help Cut National Debt
As a congressman, U.S. Rep. Dan Webster, R-Fla., is paid $174,000 a year. For the third year in a row, Webster is accepting $169,300 -- a congressmans salary back in 2008 -- and sending the remaining $4,700 to pay down the national debt.
Over the past few years, individuals, families and businesses across Central Florida have tightened their belt and learned to do more with less. Webster said on Wednesday. If were ever going to get serious about reducing our debt, it will take more than talk, it will take action. For this reason, I have again voluntarily rolled back my salary to 2008 levels. This alone wont solve our nations fiscal woes, but it is a small example of how the federal government can reduce its habitual, excessive spending.
