Dan Webster Backed by Louie Gohmert for Speaker

U.S. Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, is backing U.S. Rep. Dan Webster, R-Fla., to be speaker of the House in Thursday’s vote.

“We simply cannot go on with business as usual,” Gohmert told The World. “Dan Webster is that exceptionally rare person who is selfless enough to spread congressional power among its members the way the Constitution intended.”

Webster faces U.S. House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., and U.S. Rep. Jason Chaffez, R-Utah, as the GOP caucus meets on Thursday.
