Dan Rather on MSNBC: Tax Cut Deal "Almost Guarantees" Obama Dem Primary Challenge

A potential deal to extend the Bush-era tax cuts for all income levels in exchange for an extension of unemployment benefits and other Democratic legislation could bring a challenge to President Barack Obama from the left, according to veteran news anchor Dan Rather.

The former CBS news anchor told MSNBC Monday that the left wing of the Democratic Party and major contributors would rebel at a compromise on the tax cuts, and would "almost guarantee" a primary challenge for Obama.
