Dan McCarthy Will Head Florida TaxWatch's Center for Smart Justice

Dan McCarthy, a Navy veteran who served as a legal adviser to the Navy secretary, will take over as executive director of Florida TaxWatchs Center for Smart Justice. McCarthy has been the chief assistant state attorney for the 4th Circuit and was with Holland & Knight. McCarthy has also been active in Jacksonville on veterans issues including working with the Wounded Warrior Project.

"I am pleased to announce that Dan will lead the TaxWatch Center for Smart Justice in its push for smarter and safer criminal and juvenile justice systems in Florida," said Dominic Calabro, the president and CEO of Florida TaxWatch, on Monday. "Dan is a valuable addition to the strong research team we have developed at TaxWatch, and we are thrilled to have him on board."
