Dan Gelber Misses Jeb Bush

Nah, he doesn't really -- miss Jeb Bush, that is. As you might have imagined.

But it's catchy, I'll give Dan Gelber that. The words "I miss Jeb Bush" coming from one of Bush's fiercest opponents half-a-dozen years ago is a great way for a Democrat to jump into a blog that trashes Gov. Rick Scott.

And that's just what Gelber did in his blog post Tuesday.

The Miami Beach Dem, former state senator and failed candidate for attorney general in 2010 is clearly having a blast playing on the anti-Scott sentiment flowing freely in the streets at present -- especially in his old South Florida neighborhood. Here's a little of what Gelber writes:

"Dont misunderstand, I fought Jeb (and, I suspect, will again). But no matter how much I opposed his policies, I always believed Jeb possessed the requisite respect for our state and its people.

"Sadly, I cant say that about Rick Scott.

"I have watched him carefully his first six months in office. At first I thought Governor Scotts reptilian detachment from Florida was simply the product of being unaccustomed to the harsh glare of public life. But it became quickly apparent that it comes from something far more unsettling.

"Rick Scott doesnt seem to care about Florida."

Ouch.

And so it begins. The squad of Demo home-boys manning the Florida fort for Obama-Nelson in 2012. I see Gelber as maybe a colonel on the front line. The guns have been in place since Scott shot to the bottom of the approval ratings -- 29 percent at last count -- so, why shouldn't Gelber test one out?

Check out this paragraph, also from his Jeb Bush blog (Jeb doesn't get much more than a sentence in the whole thing, by the way):

"(Scott's) only interest seems to be pandering to a narrow swath of tea party supporters by nationalizing Florida politics. But Florida has unique challenges, and in the process of proving his tea party credentials, Governor Scott is ruining our state. Floridians barely elected him, not because of who he was, but what he wasnt (a Democrat). Now, like a bad sequel to the movie "The Hangover," Floridians are retracing their steps to figure out how they woke up with a tiger in their bathroom and Lex Luther as governor. ..."

Gelber shouldn't think he can stand out in the open unprotected for much longer. He's within range for RPOF sharpshooters. They'll have a go at him. It's only a matter of time.
