Dan Gelber Insists He Has No Regrets

Having lost to Republican Pam Bondi in the attorney generals race, Sen. Dan Gelber of Miami Beach, the Democratic candidate in the contest, does not seem through with politics.

Looking back on the last year and a half, I have absolutely no regrets, insisted Gelber on Thursday. But after 17 months, we hit a headwind of national voter discontent that was simply too unforgiving.

Im not the sort to dwell on what could have been, added Gelber. Politics is cyclical and as someone said to me last night, sometimes you just find yourself on the wrong side of history. Or put in less majestic terms, sometimes your toast falls butter-side down.

I know there are millions of Floridians who stand ready to build a better Florida, continued Gelber. And I know our time will come.
