Dan Gelber Goes to Bat for Charlie Crist

Former state Sen. Dan Gelber is raising his profile as he backs former Gov. Charlie Crists bid for the Democratic nomination to challenge Gov. Rick Scott in 2014. Sending out fundraising emails over the weekend, the Crist campaign included one under Gelbers name.

Rick Scott's special interest buddies gave him almost $6 million this month. They think they can buy his re-election, Gelber wrote. But they don't get to decide this election. You do. Charlie asked for a buck. I'm going to ask you to do a little more. As you recover from Thanksgiving, please give until it hurts ... and then give some more.

Gelbers signature included his title as former Democratic leader in the Florida House, trying to showcase the partys support for Crist who was a Republican until 2010 and did not join the Democrats until December 2012. Gelber has been mentioned as a possible running mate for Crist.
