Dale Brill to Leave Florida Chamber Foundation in January
Dale Brill, who has headed the Florida Chamber Foundation for three years, is embarking on his own economic development effort.
Brill will step down as president of the chamber foundation in January, with Chamber President and CEO Mark Wilson taking over as interim president until a new leader is named.
As I start my new business next year, I look forward to the opportunity to continue serving as a foundation trustee and to encouraging other business and community leaders to engage as well, Brill stated in a release.
During Brills term, the foundation created its Six Pillars, Florida Scorecard and Six Pillars Caucus System.
When I hired Dale to build our next generation foundation, the trustees and I were looking for a proven leader who understood Floridas needs and who had the experience to design, build and manage a program that would serve as a positive change agent in securing Floridas future, Wilson stated in the release.
I couldnt be more grateful for Dales contributions to the significant programs and community building capabilities being offered through the Florida Chamber Foundation. Dr. Brill and his team have been invaluable in positioning the foundation for future growth. Im honored he will remain as a foundation trustee and continue to help secure Floridas future.
The chamber noted the following achievements by the foundation since 2010:
Creation of www.thefloridascorecard.com: providing valuable measurements on the states economic progression/regression. The Central Florida Scorecard, Floridas first regional scorecard, and the Florida Workforce Scorecard, a data-driven measurement and evaluation of the states economic development systems, have also been created.
Expanded volunteer Caucus System from one caucus to six: Recruited nearly 500 Floridians, who volunteered more than 4,000 hours, to the Six Pillars Caucus System to help develop Floridas first 20-year strategic plan based on the Six Pillars framework. The collaborative work of the caucus members feeds policy recommendations to the Florida Chamber policy process.
Future of Florida Forum: Repositioned and developed the Florida Chamber Foundations Future of Florida Forum to include hundreds of community leaders, an annual release of data changes, and leading speakers with a focus on the future of Florida.
Launched Six Pillar Communities: Established a growing list of Six Pillars Communities across Florida. These communities, Palm Beach County, Broward County, Jackson Country, myregion.org, Florida Association of Counties and Floridas Department of Economic Opportunity, all adopted the Six Pillars framework for the creation of their long-term strategic plans.
Long-Term Strategic Plan: The Six Pillars program has provided Florida with its first ever long-term strategic plan. In addition, the staff, hundreds of volunteers and programs of the foundation, are geared toward ensuring the active implementation and measurement of progress toward the plan.
Statewide collaboration: While the list of key partners is too long to mention, the decision by the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity to use the Six Pillars as the framework for the launch of the states economic development plan is a move that will help all Floridians move our state forward. The depth of the Six Pillars framework is providing much-needed common language to help local, regional and state organizations to plan and collaborate the future of their communities
Benchmarks, By the Numbers and Special Reports: The foundation team created and publishes a monthly newsletter, monthly Scorecard updates and various industry and issue reports.
Research and Reports:
The Florida Trade and Logistics Study -- which serves as the guiding force for transforming Floridas economy into a global hub for trade, logistics and export-oriented manufacturing activities,
Immigration and Floridas Economy -- highlighting the impact of illegal immigration on Floridas economy and work force systems,
2012 Small Business Lending Survey -- a survey conducted in partnership with Florida CFO Jeff Atwater which identifies the challenges facing Floridas small community banks and credit unions.
