Crist Drops GOP From Campaign Site, Loses More Campaign Friends
It looks like Gov. Charlie Crist could announce his departure from the GOP to run as an independent any day now.
Besides his recent dialogue change, from having "no intention" of running as an independent, to considering it based on "what the people of Florida want," Crist has also removed any reference to the GOP from his site.
In an e-mail, long-time friend and supporter Rep. Tom Grady, R-Naples pointed out the observation and resigned from the Crist campaign.
Read excerpts from his e-mail below:
"This evening, as I reviewed your updated campaign website, I noticed a disheartening fact. Your website has eliminated all references to our Republican Party, or as you frequently refer to it, the party of Lincoln...
"But more recently, a statement from Peggy Noonan better illustrates what appears to be your guiding principle as Governor. Noonan wrote, 'Politics is about policy. It's not about who's emotional and who cries or makes you cry.' I agree. Unfortunately, I don't believe you do, or at least you no longer do. Your recent actions have not been about policy, but about emotion and crying. Policy and people have suffered as a result."
