Craig Miller Jabs Bill Nelson After Workday Event

On Monday, businessman Craig Miller, now running in a crowded Republican primary to take on Democratic U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson in 2012, held a workday event at a gun shop in Mt. Dora owned by former state Sen. Carey Baker, a fellow veteran.

I was happy to have the opportunity to come work at Careys shop here in Mount Dora, said Miller. "Its small, independently owned businesses like this that are the engine of our economy. I met a lot of folks today who are concerned about job creation and our economy. And in a business like this, I met many that are concerned about conservative values and our Second Amendment rights. Not surprisingly, I witnessed firsthand the burdensome regulations that federal entities like the ATF can place on a small business."

Miller took a jab at the Democratic incumbent.

"Bill Nelson has not served the voters and the law-abiding gun owners of our state, said Miller. We need a new senator who can go to Washington and provide leadership on jobs and economic growth, and will fight against crippling regulations while never forgetting to uphold and defend the constitutional rights that we hold dear.

Baker did not endorse Miller and has said that he would not back any of the candidates in the primary. Still, Baker praised Miller on Monday.

"Craig would make a fine U.S. senator, said Baker. I applaud him for taking the time out of his campaign schedule to come here and work alongside everyday Floridians. Our government would be in a much better place if more of our elected officials took the approach that Craig is taking here."
