Conservative House Candidate Posts Impressive Fundraising
Keep an eye on conservative First Coast activist Kim Kendall. Kendall has filed to run as a Republican for the state House seat currently held by Rep. Mike Weinstein, R-Jacksonville, which represents parts of Clay, Duval and St. Johns counties. With redistricting taking place in early 2012, Kendall, who lives in the northern part of St. Johns County, may be moved over to the House seat currently held by term-limited Rep. Bill Proctor, R-St. Augustine.
Kendall has pulled in some impressive fundraising totals so far. Since entering the race in February, she has raised almost $25,000 in cash, loaned her campaign $10,000 and garnered $1,500 through in-kind donations. On the down side, her burn rate seems a little high -- more than $14,800 already spent. Still, thats pretty impressive for a grass-roots candidate who may be taking on a sitting incumbent in the Republican primary. She garnered some early endorsements from prominent Florida conservatives like John Stemberger early on in this campaign, and she is certainly proving to be a candidate to watch.
